The IEEE Malaysia Sarawak Subsection along with the Swinburne University of Technology, and IEEE Swinburne Student Branch are organizing the workshop on “Level Up Learning on Serious Game in Classroom” for teachers.
Serious games in the classroom offer a new approach to teaching, using games’ motivational power to improve student engagement, inspiration, and learning outcomes. Understanding and using these strategies is essential for schoolteachers, particularly those with limited technological literacy. Serious games provide immersive learning experiences that make challenging topics more understandable and enjoyable. This program aims to provide teachers with the skills and knowledge they need to effectively integrate these tools into their teaching, improving the educational experience and creating a more dynamic and engaging classroom environment.
This 1-day workshop is designed to provide educators with the information and abilities to incorporate serious games into teaching. The workshop introduces teachers to the concepts and benefits of serious games, including real-world examples and the psychology underlying their effectiveness. Participants engage in interactive activities and conversations about how these strategies can improve student engagement and learning outcomes. Practical sessions address game concepts, user-friendly technologies, and the creation of serious game-based lesson plans. Teachers are also taught how to select, evaluate, and include serious games in lesson plans.
Learning aids (Instructive guides) will be prepared for participants and will contain educational information on serious games and the educational benefits of using them, strategies for integrating serious games into lesson plans, and methods for designing educational serious games.
