IEEE Sarawak Subsection 7th AGM & Updates

The IEEE Sarawak Subsection’s Annual General Meeting has successfully taken place on 12th of Febuary 2022 virtually via Zoom meeting. The AGM begins with a welcoming address by the Chair of IEEE Sarawak Subsection 2021-2022/23 follow by subsection activities reports by both Secretary and Treasurer.

In the year 2021, the IEEE Sarawak Subsection has successfully organized several events and activities ranging from Humanitarian Technology related activities, Seminars/Workshops, Educational Activities, Competiton as well as Professional Development related events. Below is the list of activities held in year 2021:

There will be a few Senior Membership elevation workshops to be conducted this year and the chair encourages all existing members to take the opportunities to apply and become Senior Member. Senior member is the highest grade for which IEEE members can apply. IEEE members can self-nominate, or be nominated, for Senior Member grade. Below are general requirement to qualify for the IEEE Senior Member application:

  • Be engineers, scientists, educators, technical executives, or originators in IEEE-designated fields
  • Have experience reflecting professional maturity
  • Have been in professional practice for at least ten years (with some credit for certain degrees aka year exemption based on qualification e.g. Bachelor / Masters / PhD)
  • Show significant performance over a period of at least five of their years in professional practice

Member who successfully elevated to Senior Member will receive a Senior Member plaque: An engraved plaque you can proudly display to colleagues, clients, and employers. The plaque, an attractive fine wood with bronze engraving, is sent approximately eight weeks after elevation.

The chair also welcomes all professionals who are based in Sarawak or Sarawakian who are based outside Sarawak to join the IEEE Sarawak Subsection community in this exciting year.
